About the Author
Born in 1969, R. “Andy” Gowins grew up in the small town of Possum Trot, Kentucky. He graduated from the Western Kentucky University (Kentucky) in 1991 with a Bachelor of Arts and then again in 1992 with a Master of Public Administration. After graduating with his M.P.A. he spent several years working in corporate America before graduating from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary with a Master of Divinity (2002) and his Doctor of Education (2006).
He has been a disciple of the Lord Jesus since the summer of 1978 when he gave his life to Christ at a Vacation Bible School. He accepted his call to ministry while attending W.K.U. in the spring of 1990 and has been in vocational ministry ever since.
He now lives in Hartford, Kentucky with his wife Debbie who is an elementary school teacher. He has two adult children. The greatest honor and privilege he has besides his relationship with the Lord, is his call to be a husband, a father, and most recently a GPaw. After his personal relationship with God his family takes priority.
He currently serves as the co-pastor of East Hartford Baptist Church (Hartford, Kentucky), as well as an Associate Professor for Liberty University (Lynchburg, Virginia) in their School of Divinity’s on-line program. Published works include Prove Thyself a Man: Encouraging Your Son to be a Man of Character; he was a contributor to Mounce’s Complete Expository Dictionary of Old and New Testament Words; as well as various reviews for the Christian Education Journal and The Journal of the Evangelical Theological Society.
When he is not working, he enjoys backpacking, camping, cheering on his beloved Vanderbilt Commodores, Tennessee Titans, and/or Nashville Predators.
